An EU level workshop with experts will take place in Brussels on 8th of June 2016.
One of CIPTEC project’s main activities was the analysis of Public Transport customers’ groups and their needs per group. This analysis was conducted by means of rigorous and in-depth literature reviews of the different types of Public Transport customers groups and their needs. During the analysis, Public Transport customers were segmented into existing users and non-users, as potential new ones.
In addition, the CIPTEC project partners conducted a large number of interviews with representatives of Public Transport Authorities and Operators, as well as with transport experts, in order to identify the specific needs and the differences among the varying customer groups. The interview questions reflected market segmentation processes and techniques. Particular attention was paid to the identification of the special needs of vulnerable groups, including people with mobility and sensory restrictions, as well as other financial, social and gender issues and the implications that these may have (vision, mobility, hearing, etc.).
The one day EU level validation workshop will summon experts to validate the results of the analysis of those Public Transport customers’ groups and users’ needs per customer group. Target groups for the workshop include experts from different fields, such as transport planners, marketing experts, consumer behaviour experts, public transport marketing experts etc. The aim is to achieve a balanced mix of public transport and non-public transport experts in order to validate the results according to each customer group. Members of the CIPTEC consortium, along with up to 10 external experts from Europe will be attending the workshop.
