Workshop for the CIPTEC Crowdsourcing platform

CIPTEC initiates a collective innovation approach for the public transport community, through the running of crowdsourcing contests. Crowdsourcing is the process of obtaining ideas, services or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people, and especially from an online community, rather than from traditional employees or suppliers.

At the end of April, CIPTEC released the first version of the crowdsourcing platform (http://demo.ciptec.eu) that it will be used to generate innovative ideas for public transport from different groups of individuals while at the same time stimulating dialogue and discussion among all parties involved in the public transport sector. Through CIPTEC crowdsourcing platform, any registered user can participate in the crowdsourcing initiatives and can a) submit innovative ideas, b) comment on existing ideas, c) rate existing ideas, d) interact with other users.

In CIPTEC, this online platform will be deployed in at least four areas:

  1. Germany (coordinated by partner traffiQ),
  2. Netherlands (coordinated by partner MRDH),
  3. Italy (coordinated by partner TIEMME),
  4. Greece (coordinated by partner AUTh).

During the CIPTEC Consortium and EMTA General Assembly meeting a workshop took place dedicated to the presentation (for the first time in public) of the crowdsourcing platform. The aim of this workshop was to introduce to the audience the term crowdsourcing (presentation given by our invited speaker Andrew Nash), to present the main objectives of crowdsourcing in CIPTEC, to showcase the CIPTEC crowdsourcing platform and to receive feedback from participants.

During the workshop, participants were given instructions on how to browse and use the crowdsourcing platform. Participants were then asked to test and evaluate the platform by registering and submitting new innovative ideas and by commenting and rating on existing ones. Participants provided feedback regarding the usability and the functionality of the platform.

The workshop was organised by CIPTEC partner Tero who is responsible for the development of the crowdsourcing platform.
